Science has come a long way.
It took the world about 10 years in the Human Genome Project (1990-2001) to decipher the complete DNA sequences in the human.
Let’s go! Walk into our Precision Medicine Trail to see how Advanced Technology has allowed us to Know Your Genes in 20 Days!
* The turnaround time of 20 days is based on a standard courier service of 2 days for the sample to be delivered from a clinic to our laboratory.
Courier services may differ in different locations, so turnaround time would have to be adjusted accordingly.
1. Pre-screening & Medical Counselling
Contact SPMC to learn about how genetic testing may benefit you and your family.
A medical doctor will guide you to understand the basis/rationale, benefits and risks of a genetic test.
At the end of this session, you will be adequately informed and confident to decide whether to take up a genetic test or not.
2. Sample Collection
The 20-days genetic test starts now.
In SPMC, only 5mL of venous blood is required for a genetic test. No biopsy is needed.
3. Laboratory Handles Sample and Decoding of DNA (DNA Sequencing)
(Day 3 – 5)
The sample reaches our CAP-accredited laboratory.
DNA is extracted from the sample, processed and loaded into our advanced DNA sequencing machines.
4. Analysis and Interpretation of Decoded DNA and Final Genetic Test Report
(Day 6 -15)
With a super high performance computing platform and qualified bioinformaticians,
the decoded DNA is compared against a comprehensive range of genome databases to derive accurate and reliable analyses.
Results are verified and interpreted by a panel of experts before a detailed report is generated with actionable recommendations.
5. Report Reaches Doctor and Medical Counseling
Your doctor discusses the outcome of the genetic test with you.
You may consider some actionable recommendations that could range from personalized preventive medicine to simple lifestyle changes to achieve optimal health.
